
Jazz Trumpeter - James Davis
James Davis holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in trumpet performance. He performed with the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble, the Grammy nominated One O’clock Lab Band at UNT and the UNT Wind Symphony, and he was a 2004 finalist in the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Improvisation Competition.
During 2005, James was a touring member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He is currently an active performer with the James Davis Quintet, composer and educator. He also teaches private lessons and is on faculty at Triton College in River Grove, IL.
Jazz Saxophonist - Keith Davis
Keith Davis earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Music in clarinet performance from Texas Christian University. He was a member of the UTA Jazz Orchestra and toured The Netherlands and Germany with the band in 1999 and 2001.
He played lead alto at UTA for 2 years and performed with the jazz combos and other performing groups. He played lead alto with the TCU Jazz Orchestra for 2 years. While with TCU, Keith performed on a Scandinavian tour and built a private teaching studio. He taught private lessons and led a small band at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Waxahachie until this year when he joined the staff at Cleburne High School as a band director. Keith plays gigs in Ft. Worth and around the metroplex on saxophone and acoustic bass.
Vocalist-Elizabeth Stelzer
Miss
Stelzer, WHS choral and theatre accompanist, is a pianist, composer and
singer with a Bachelor’s degree in music from the University of North
Texas. While at UNT, she studied classical piano, focusing specifically
on accompanying singers. She studied jazz voice and was a part of Paris
Rutherford’s vocal jazz ensemble. She studied composition with Dr.
Joseph Klein, and received private instruction from visiting composers
Harvey Solberger, Libby Larsen and Jake Heggie. She focuses on
contemporary classical music, and has written for solo singers and
instrumentalists, various chamber ensembles, the orchestra, and the
musical theater. She is currently composing her first opera. Miss
Stelzer also teaches a musical theater class with Dallas Summer
Musicals, and performs weekly as a cocktail pianist and vocalist at
Hector’s on Henderson in Dallas. Miss Stelzer has found a home here at
the Waxahachie High School Choral and Theatre Departments, where she
strives to provide her students with the same in-depth and eclectic
education that she received.
